Join The Applause

Sunrise at Playalinda Beach, Canaveral National Seashore.

View across water at Black Point Drive, Merritt Island
The Orlando Camera Club held a fieldtrip, photo shoot in conjunction with Join the Applause which is a one day worldwide photo walk to celebrate God's beauty in nature. The sunrise was not as spectacular as it usually is due to the heavy cloud cover, but it was a beautiful and relatively cool morning. The beach was fairly empty except for several kayakers and fishermen. After shooting at the beach, we drove through Black Point Wildlife Drive. The drive is a seven-mile self guided drive with many areas to pull off and observe the wildlife. Birds are not plentiful this time of year but we did see many great egrets, great blue herons and several roseate spoonbills.

Father's Day at Gatorland

When you can't spend Father's Day with your Dad, the next best thing is to spend it doing something he would love to do. My Dad loves photography and he loved to photograph birds. If I ever convince him to come visit me I will take him to Gatorland to photograph the many birds that roost there. There are still some nesting birds and tons of fledglings. The alligators were also very active today.

Mead Gardens Butterfly Garden, Winter Park

I was beginning to think that a Photography outing to Mead Gardens was going to be unfruitful until I came upon a small butterfly garden. I was immediately drawn to these Cone Flowers.

McKee Gardens, Vero Beach, Florida

Water lilies are in bloom at McKee Gardens in Vero Beach. They have one of the largest collections of water lilies in the country. This photograph was cropped  and I used Alien Skin's Bokeh program to experiment with the soft focus.

Dancing Phoenix,Chinese Lotus Water Lily (I looked these up on the internet and to buy one is $37.50. That must be why I haven't seen very many of these. They are very beautiful.

Vintage Ford Sign on an old garage in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts

I found this sign when I made a wrong turn. I shot it in color then used Lightroom 3.4 to convert it to Black and White. By adjusting the yellow and green sliders, the vines on the building took on an infrared look. I used On One software to give the final photo a sepia tone.
